BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. Some 116,244 cars were sold in Uzbekistan in February 2023, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

Car sales in Uzbekistan in the reporting period have decreased by 0.4 percent, compared to the figure for February 2022 (116,746 cars). This figure has also decreased by 1.6 percent, compared to the previous month (118,000 cars).

During the reporting period, some 24,233 new cars were sold in Uzbekistan, while used cars – 92,011.

Furthermore, in February 2023, about 746 electric vehicles were sold in Uzbekistan – an increase of 73 percent, compared to the figure for January 2023 (431 cars). The largest number of e-vehicles was sold in Tashkent city – 549, followed by Tashkent region – 70 and Fergana region – 27.

Due to the growing demand for the purchase of electric vehicles among citizens, Uzbekistan imported 2,180 electric vehicles worth $69.8 million from January through December 2022.

The figure has increased by 1,371 cars or 2.7 times compared to the same period in 2021. China was the leading electric vehicle-importing country for Uzbekistan in 2022 - 1,941 cars.
