Uzbekistan sees increase in number of customers using remote banking services

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 31. The number of customers using remote banking services in Uzbekistan reached 32.8 million people, as of the beginning of March 2023, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU).

According to the bank, this figure increased by 52.2 percent, compared to the reporting period in 2022 (March 1 – 21.5 million).

CBU notes the customers of the following banks were the main users of remote banking services: Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank (4.8 million), Xalq bank (4.5 million), and Agrobank (4.3 million people).

From the total share of customers using remote banking services, some 31.1 million were individuals, while legal entities and individual entrepreneurs amounted to more than 1.2 million.

CBU says that in country's Uzagroeksportbank in the reporting period recorded the lowest number of customers, who used the remote services of their bank - 1,314 users.

Back in January 2023, a source at Uzbekistan’s CBU told Trend that advanced mobile payment services such as Apple pay and Google pay may become available in Uzbekistan.
