BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. Uzbekistan plans to allocate 100 billion Uzbek soums ($8.7 million) for the development of the industrial sector in the country’s Khorezm region, Trend reports via the presidential administration.

The issue was discussed during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to the Khorezm region.

Owing to the sum of money, Uzbekistan will be able to implement 14 large industrial projects and create electrical and pharmaceutical technology parks in the region’s Urgench city.

Moreover, the country’s authorities have already provided funding worth $1.5 billion, due to which the output of industrial products, in particular, textile, food, electrical engineering, and construction materials increased by 2 times.

Thus, the region’s industrial exports reached indicators of $190 million.

Furthermore, Uzbekistan has also allocated an additional 1 trillion soums or $87.6 billion for the development of 531 mahallas (local self-government, variation of a municipality) of the Khorezm region, while 50 billion soums ($4.3 million) for the repair of roads, sidewalks and lighting in district centers of the region.

On March 31, 2023, the Uzbek president paid a visit to the country’s Khorezm region and participated in the launching ceremony of 6 new enterprises there.

During the working trip, president Mirziyoyev visited "Yangibozor textile agrocluster”, where modern foreign equipment worth more than 13 billion soums ($1.1 million) was installed. The new equipment will provide to increase production capacity by up to 5 million finished knitwear per year, 65 percent of which will be to the country’s trade partners.
