BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. A photovoltaic power station is being built at the Takhiatash thermal power plant (TPP) in Taqiyatas city in the northwest of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, at the area where the construction is going, the solar panels are being installed at a rapid pace, said the ministry.
The ministry noted that the construction of the photovoltaic power station is being done to compensate for used electricity at the expense of alternative energy.
After being put into operation, the photovoltaic power station is expected to produce 1.8 million kWh of electricity per year. As a result, 400,000 cubic meters of natural gas will be saved in a year.
Uzbekistan has generated more than 20.1 billion kWh of electricity from January through March 2023, the figure increased by 421.5 million kWh or 2.1 percent, compared to the reporting period in 2022.
