Uzbekistan’s lemon export jumps by over 40% in 1Q2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. Uzbekistan has exported 2,200 tons of lemons worth $1.8 million from January through March 2023, Trend reports via Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, Uzbekistan’s exports of lemons increased by 44.8 percent, or 681 tons, compared to what was exported during the first quarter of 2022 (1,519 tons).

From January through March, the main importers of Uzbek lemons were the following countries: Russia (1,700 tons), Kyrgyzstan (298 tons), and Kazakhstan (214 tons).

The largest volume of lemons is produced in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, and Fergana regions.

In 2022, the trade partners of Uzbekistan imported some 5,300 tons of lemons worth $5.7 million.

Besides lemons, during the first three months, Uzbekistan exported to its trade partners mug beans – 35,000 tons, cabbage – 25,400 tons, dried grapes – 21,700 tons, tomato – 12,000 tons, prunes – 9,000 tons, pomegranate – 8,500 tons, and chili pepper –6,800 tons.

Meanwhile, from January through March 2023, Uzbekistan exported 217,600 tons of fruit and vegetables- a decrease of 1.2 times or 41,400 tons, compared to the reporting period in 2022.
