Value of Uzbekistan's fruits and vegetables export up by 6.5%

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. The value of fruits and vegetables export from Uzbekistan amounted to $256.1 million from January through April 2023, which is 6.5 percent more than in the same period of 2022, Trend reports.

The volume of the export decreased by 11.1 percent year-on-year, totaling 359,200 tons. The share of fruit and vegetable products in the total exports of Uzbekistan amounted to 3.3 percent.

Apricots hold the largest portion in the export, accounting for 13.7 percent. This is followed by dried grapes at 10.4 percent, dried plums at 7 percent, tomatoes at 6.1 percent, cabbage at 5.1 percent, fresh grapes and onions both at 4.3 percent, and pomegranates at 3.3 percent.

In the first four months of this year, Uzbekistan exported fruits and vegetables mainly to Russia, which share accounts for 27.4 percent of the Uzbek exports, Pakistan - 20.6 percent, China - 16.3 percent, and Kazakhstan- 13.9 percent.

Some small amount of these products was exported to Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan – both accounting for 2.4 percent of the Uzbek export, Belarus – 2 percent, Türkiye – 1.9 percent, Iraq – 1.5 percent and Iran – 1.2 percent.
