Singapore, Uzbekistan discuss Tashkent Airport modernization project

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. Singapore's Changi Airports International meets Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan to discuss the modernization project to be implemented in Tashkent International Airport, Trend reports.

On May 24, 2023, within the framework of the Uzbek-Singapore Business Forum held prior to the visit of Singaporean President Halimah Yacob to Uzbekistan, an agreement on cooperation was signed between Uzbekistan Airports JSC and Changi Airports International.

The cooperation agreement aims to optimize the operations of the Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, including enhancing competitiveness and passenger service quality, implementing advanced technologies, increasing passenger flow, and developing the technical and economic foundations for the project.

Detailed information on Uzbekistan's tourism potential, tourism reforms, including the significant increase in the number of visa-exempt countries from 9 to 91 as a result of the "open doors" policy implemented in Uzbekistan, and aviation-related benefits were provided to the representatives of the Changi Airports International delegation.

During the negotiations, the Singaporean side shared their market research processes regarding Uzbekistan and their plans for optimizing the current Tashkent International Airport. As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a phased action plan to accelerate the implementation of all discussed agreements.
