TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 25. The Chinese Xinjiang Tian Jiao HongAn Agricultural Company plans to invest $10 million in pepper processing in Uzbekistan’s Andijan region, Trend reports.
The news followed a recent meeting between the Governor of Uzbekistan’s Andijan region, Shukhratbek Abdurakhmanov, and representatives of Xinjiang Tian Jiao HongAn Agricultural Co., Ltd.
During the meeting, a Chinese company was offered to conclude direct contracts with local farmers for the cultivation of pepper on an area of 2,000 hectares. The price offered by the Chinese side for the purchase of pepper is $1.1 per kilogram.
The launch of the investment project will ensure the annual export of products worth $30 million.
Earlier this month, Uzbekistan and China signed a memorandum on the implementation of priority grant projects. The signed document provides for the implementation of 14 projects totaling over $190 million in sectors such as agriculture and water management, healthcare, education, and institutional development.
