Chinese FAW launches truck assembly in Uzbekistan’s region

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 27. The Chinese First Automobile Works (FAW) car manufacturer has launched the assembly of trucks in Uzbekistan’s Andijan region, Trend reports.

The cost of the project, jointly with Uzbekistan’s domestic Vodiy Universal-Majmua car-selling company, is estimated at $15 million.

Meanwhile, the Chinese BYD automobile concern plans to launch the assembly of hybrids and electric vehicles in Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region, reaching a capacity of 300,000 cars at subsequent stages.

Furthermore, the Chinese Dongfeng Special Car Company intends to implement a project for the production of electric buses worth $100 million with an annual production capacity of 1,000 units in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region.

Earlier this month, Uzbekistan and China signed a memorandum on the implementation of priority grant projects in Uzbekistan. The signed document provides for the implementation of 14 projects totaling over $190 million in sectors such as agriculture and water management, healthcare, education, and institutional development.
