TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 10. Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Russian Ozon Marketplace, one of the first e-commerce companies in Russia, signed a memorandum on the development of e-commerce in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
The news followed a recent meeting between the representatives of both parties at the Third Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan held in Kazan.
The signed document presupposes close cooperation between the organizations in order to develop logistics infrastructure in Uzbekistan for the storage, processing, and delivery of goods, as well as to improve cross-border trade mechanisms and the development of entrepreneurship in the country.
With the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Ozon will conduct training events for entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan. The company plans to take part in the work on improving the regulation of e-commerce as well as cross-border trade mechanisms.
The total value of the business agreement signed between Uzbekistan and Russia during the third Interregional Cooperation Forum in Russia’s Kazan amounted to $3.5 billion.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Ozon plans to open a logistics center in Uzbekistan. This logistics center is planned to be used to supply products from Uzbekistan to Russian retail chains and enterprises.
