TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 30. Uzbekistan’s program for the installation of solar panels in state universities has been completed by 110.5 percent, Trend reports.
Currently, in accordance with the program, a total of 49.5 MW of solar panels have been installed in state universities, with these solar panels now being fully integrated into Uzbekistan’s Green Energy Information System.
In addition, the installation of panels with a capacity of 2.5 MW continues on the basis of contracts with state universities.
The solar panels are connected to Uzbekistan’s system of Regional Electric Networks (JSC) and generate 269,600 kWh of electricity per year.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan developed a program to install 44.8 MW of solar panels with a capacity of 89.6 million kWh of electricity in all state universities of the republic based on the annual energy demand of the country.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has produced 52.2 billion kWh of electricity from January through August 2023.
As per data provided by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy, the recorded number is 5.8 percent more than in the same period of 2022 (49.3 billion kWh). Over 13.06 billion kWh of electricity was supplied to the population in the reporting period, which is 18.4 percent more compared to the same period in 2022 (11.04 billion kWh).
Moreover, Uzbekistan plans to attract $7 billion of private investment to create an additional 9 GW of generating capacity. The total volume of necessary investments in the electric power industry is estimated at $52 billion.
