TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 30. Departments and companies of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed trade agreements worth $1.2 billion, Trend reports.
Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev and Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan Abdul Ghani Baradar held talks in Kabul in a narrow and expanded format.
"During the meetings and negotiations held during the visit, export-import agreements worth about $1.2 billion were reached between the parties," the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
Khodjaev expressed readiness of the Uzbek side to participate in Afghanistan in large-scale infrastructure projects and electricity supply, projects to train Afghan specialists in various sectors of the economy.
In addition, within the framework of the visit, a business forum was organized at the International Exhibition Center in Kabul, which was attended by over 300 representatives of local business circles. An exhibition of products manufactured in Uzbekistan was also held.
Moreover, Khodjaev earlier stated that the Uzbek authorities intend to increase trade turnover with Afghanistan to $3 billion against $760 million by the end of 2022.
