TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 27. Chinese Taikai Transformers company is implementing its technologies in Uzbekistan’s energy sector, Trend reports.
According to statistics from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, the company has already built its high-voltage transformers at the Sagban substation in Uzbekistan's Tashkent region's Almazar district.
During the repair and restoration operation, the Almazar district's residents are supplied with energy by diesel generators.
The repairs were made in response to a breakdown at the Sagban substation on November 24, when the transformer went out of service for the third time in a year. The previous accidents necessitated replacement work on March 24 and May 26, 2023.
In the meantime, Uzbekistan generated 63.02 billion kWh of electricity from January to October of this year.
As per Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, the growth of electricity production compared to the first ten months of 2022 amounted to 5.1 percent.
Moreover, Uzbekistan plans to involve the private sector in the distribution of electricity in the country.
According to Uzbek Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, currently the private sector is already present in the field of electricity generation, and in the future the country is already considering attracting foreign and private investors to the distribution network — its modernization, cost reduction, and energy efficiency improvement.
The minister also spoke in favor of free pricing on the wholesale electricity market based on supply and demand, as well as the organization of daily electricity sales through an online trading platform in the future.
