TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 5. Uzbekistan will invest $35 million in repairing the Karshinsky cascade of pumping stations in the country's region of Kashkadarya, Trend reports.
As per Agro Industries and Food Security Agency of Uzbekistan, the total cost of the project for the modernization of these stations stands at $70.7 million.
The funds allocated for the project consist of $19.82 million allocated by Saudi Development Fund and $14.78 million of loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has allocated 22 trillion Uzbek soums ($1.8 billion) from the state budget for the upgrade of the water management system from 2021 through 2023.
According to Uzbekistan’s Minister of Water Resources Shavkat Khamrayev, it is planned to allocate another 1.7 trillion soums ($139.2 billion) and additional loans in the amount of $300 million from international financial organizations for the improvement of water management systems in 2024.
