TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 23. Russian Railways JSC has extended 50 percent discounts for the transportation of agricultural products from Uzbekistan in 2024, Trend reports.
As per Russian Railways, the company also extended discounts of 20.4 percent for transportation in refrigerated containers along the Selyatino (Moscow region) - Sergeli (Uzbekistan) route through the Kanisai border station, and in the opposite direction through the Ozinki station.
Russian Railways noted that a 50-percent discount on the import transportation of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to Russia in refrigerated rolling stock owned by Uzbekistan Railways has been in effect since 2021.
According to the Statistics Agency, Uzbekistan exported almost 1.5 million tons of fruits and vegetables worth $951.3 million from January through October of 2023.
Earlier this year, Uzbekistan Railways and Russian Railways signed a memorandum on the development of bilateral and transit railway communication.
The document is aimed at strengthening the partnership in the field of rail transport between Russia and Uzbekistan, as well as the development of multimodal transport corridors and the digitalization of the industry. Education and training of personnel are also considered important aspects of cooperation.
Moreover, the memorandum provides for the realization of the potential of existing and the development of promising international transport corridors.
