TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 16. Uzbek commercial banks' assets amounted to 652.1 trillion soums ($52.9 billion) as of January 1, 2024, Trend reports.
The data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan shows that the real growth of assets totaled 12 percent year-on-year.
Banks' assets in foreign currency exceeded 291.7 trillion soums ($23.6 billion) by the end of 2023.
The credit investments of commercial banks amounted to 471.4 trillion soums ($38.2 billion) as of January 1, 2024, which is 16 percent more year-on-year. Loans in foreign currency amounted to 212.3 trillion soums ($17.2 billion).
Deposits grew by 9 percent to 241.6 trillion soums ($19.6 billion) as of January 1, 2024. Deposits in foreign currency exceeded 72.1 trillion soums ($5.8 billion). The total capital of commercial banks reached 97 trillion soums ($7.8 billion) as of January 1, 2024. Real growth totaled 22 percent over the year.
Meanwhile, the volume of Uzbek commercial banks' problem loans amounted to 16.6 trillion soums ($1.3 billion) as of January 1, 2024.
The data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan shows that the share of problem loans in the loan portfolio of commercial banks amounted to 3.5 percent.
