TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 22. Uzbekistan manufactured 15,657 passenger cars in January 2024, which is 2.92 times more year-on-year, Trend reports.
As per data of Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, the automotive industry produced 3,369 Chevrolet Cobalt, 2,105 Chevrolet Gentra, 3,865 Chevrolet Damas, 1,355 Chevrolet Tracker and 836 Chevrolet Оnix in January 2024.
The country also produced 1,418 Chery cars, 2,644 -KIA, 3 -EXEED and 62 -Haval.
Also, 951 specialized passenger cars were produced in Uzbekistan (decrease by 44 percent).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's vehicle sales increased by 8 percent and amounted to 144,500 units in January 2024, a 14 percent growth compared to January last year.
As per data of Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), a total of 128,000 passenger cars were sold in the first month of the year, which is 6 percent more over month. The highest growth rates were observed in Navoi, Ferghana and Bukhara regions. In annual terms, the passenger car market grew by more than 8 percent.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan sold 1.69 million vehicles in 2023, which is 18 percent more year-on-year. Peak values were recorded in May and October, when sales exceeded 156,000 and 186,000 vehicles.
