TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 24. Uzbekistan exported 146,300 tons of fruits and vegetables worth $75.4 million abroad in January 2024, Trend reports.
As per data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this indicator increased 2.2 times, or 78,800 tons, year-on-year.
The main export markets for fruit and vegetable products are Russia (27.2 percent), Pakistan (21.2 percent), China (13.4 percent), and Kazakhstan (9.2 percent).
The share of exports of fruits and vegetables amounted to 6.8 percent of total exports in January 2024.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan plans to increase agricultural exports to $3.5 billion.
This was discussed at a meeting held by Uzbekistan's president Shavkat Mirziyoyev dedicated to the development of fruit and vegetable cultivation and the expansion of the food chain in Uzbekistan.
The country's agriculture grew by 4.1 percent in 2023, with exports worth nearly $2 billion. However, the export potential has not yet been fully realized.
