TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 25. Rubicon’s technologies can transform the performance of Uzbekistan’s irrigation systems to overcome low yields, significant land salinization, and make more water available for the Aral Sea ecosystem, a source at Rubicon Water told Trend.

The company's solution, created via considerable control engineering research, addresses the long-standing issues of manually operated irrigation systems. In Uzbekistan, these issues have resulted in startlingly low water use efficiency, as low as 30%, according to the "FAO/World Bank Modernizing Central Asian Irrigation: Stocktaking and Strategic Discussion Report, May 2019."

Rubicon Water's solution consists of hardware, software, and communication technologies specifically developed to automate the management and operation of big irrigation systems. This holistic approach has the potential to change large-scale decision-making processes by efficiently matching water supply to demand.

This technology offers several advantages over existing water management solutions in Uzbekistan. The field-proven hardware products provide unparalleled accuracy and precision, even in harsh rural conditions.

"The Rubicon software empowers farmers to specify their water requirements online and have them processed in real time with an assured and reliable supply delivered at short notice, enabling them to accurately provide water at the time and rate required by their crops. Information provided by networks of weather stations and soil moisture sensors can be delivered in real time to farmers to better inform their irrigation schedules," he noted.

For system managers and regulatory authorities, the software provides detailed water balance information, offering an accurate and equitable basis for volumetric measurement and billing. Additionally, it establishes the IT environment for local, regional, and national water accounts, laying the foundation for best-practice water management.

Rubicon Water's technology improves water use efficiency by delivering water precisely when crops need it, reducing water logging, and improving land salinization. This not only increases production but also enhances water quality, leading to ecological benefits. In regions with pumped systems, such as Kashkadaraya, Bukhara, and Fergana, Rubicon's technology offers significant reductions in electricity usage, contributing to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
