Uzbek Uzagrosugurta reveals volume of insurance premiums

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 27. Uzbekistan's Uzagrosugurta JSC (insurance company) has collected insurance premiums in the amount of 393.1 billion soums ($31.4 million) by the end of 2023, which is 1.2 times more than a year earlier, Trend reports.

According to the company, of these, 71.5 billion soums ($5.7 million) are premiums on compulsory insurance, and 321.6 billion soums ($25.7 million) - on voluntary types of insurance.

A total of 715,300 contracts were concluded over the past year. The main part of them was insurance of health and property of population (650,300 contracts).

The volume of liabilities under insurance contracts amounted to 180.4 trillion soums ($14.4 billion) in 2023, which is 51.5 percent more year-on-year.

Uzagrosugurta paid out more than 50.6 billion soums ($4 million) on insurance liabilities last year. The growth amounted to 16.6 percent.

Of these, 20.4 billion soums ($1.6 million) fell to the share of compulsory insurance and 30 billion soums ($2.4 million) to voluntary insurance.

Meanwhile, the total authorized capital of insurance organizations in Uzbekistan amounted to more than 2.3 trillion soums ($186.4 million) in 2023, which is 22.6 percent more year-on-year.

The investment portfolio of insurance companies mainly consists of deposits in commercial banks (65.6 percent) and securities (22.1 percent).
