TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 28. Uzbekistan's Ipak Yuli Bank has tightened requirements for servicing accounts of Russian customers, Trend reports.
The bank has sent notifications to customers in Russia requesting the personal identification number of an individual (PINFL) in order to continue using bank cards without restrictions.
The PINFL request requires temporary registration in Uzbekistan. The bank claims that this requirement was introduced in accordance with the instructions of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan dated February 8, 2023.
Customers were explained that a PINFL is required to open deposit accounts under the new rules. Without providing PINFL, clients will not be able to make card-to-card transfers and some other transactions.
PINFL can be obtained through the passport office or the Center of State Services in Uzbekistan with the provision of a document of temporary registration.
Meanwhile, a number of Uzbek banks, including Ipak Yuli and Halyk Bank, reported the suspension of operations with the Contact money transfer system.
This is due to the revocation of Russian QIWI Bank's license, the owner of the Contact system.
