TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 12. As of March 1, 2024, Uzbekistan's gold and foreign exchange reserves totaled $32.1 billion, down from $1.22 billion in February, Trend reports.

According to data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the majority of reserves are held in gold, totaling $24.09 billion. Gold reserves declined by 11.9 million troy ounces over the month. In monetary terms, this figure came to $829.1 million.

According to the new figures, foreign currency assets totaled $7.5 billion in February.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan's deposits with foreign central banks and the International Monetary Fund declined from $475.7 million to $388.7 million.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to $34.56 billion as of January 1, 2024, increasing by $1.66 billion in December 2023.

According to the data, reserves in gold amounted to $24.63 billion, while foreign currency assets amounted to $9.3 billion.

In addition, Uzbekistan has maintained its status as the largest seller of gold in the world in November 2023.

The World Gold Council reports that the Central Bank of Uzbekistan sold 11 tons of gold in November 2023.
