TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 8. Uzbekistan's state budget deficit amounted to more than 19.8 trillion soums ($1.5 billion) from January through March 2024, Trend reports.
As per data from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance, this figure is 1.7 times higher year-on-year.
The deficit amounted to 5.8 trillion soums ($457.1 million) in January 2024, 7.2 trillion soums in February 2024, and 6.8 trillion soums ($567.4 million) in March this year.
Budget revenues grew by 6.8 percent and expenditures by 19.3 percent over the year.
Meanwhile, in 2023, Uzbekistan's consolidated budget deficit was
59 trillion soums ($4.6 billion), up 285.8 trillion soums ($22.6
billion) from the previous year.
According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance, the
consolidated budget's receipts were 321 trillion soums ($25.4
billion), while expenditures were 380 trillion soums ($30.1
billion).
To note, the consolidated budget deficit reached 5.5 percent of GDP in 2023.
