TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 29. Uzbekistan and China Datang Overseas Investment Company will build a solar power plant with a capacity of 263 MW in Buka district of the Tashkent region, Trend reports.

This is reflected in the decree of the President of Uzbekistan on measures to implement the project for the construction of a solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 263 MW and overhead power lines in the Buka district of the Tashkent region.

According to the decree, the plant will be constructed on 621 hectares of land.

The Chinese company will also construct a power transmission line. The volume of foreign direct investment will amount to $150 million. The National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan will cover part of the expenses for the creation of power grids.

In addition, the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan will purchase electricity generated by the power plant for 25 years.

Earlier in January 2024, Uzbekistan and China Datang Overseas Investment Company signed a contract for the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 263 MW in Buka district of the Tashkent region.

Meanwhile, the World Bank Group, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), and Uzbekistan have inked a financial deal to support a 250-MW solar photovoltaic plant coupled with a 63-MW battery energy storage system (BESS).

The initiative aims to broaden access to clean and dependable electricity for around 75,000 households.
