TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 7. Uzbekistan approved a presidential decree on measures to introduce a national transparency framework in the transition to a green economy, Trend reports.

A green economy transition has begun in Uzbekistan with the launch of the national transparency framework (MRV), as stated in the decree.

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance is considered the national body of the national transparency framework and coordinates the activities of ministries and agencies (network coordinators) within the framework. The ministry also controls the completeness, accuracy, and quality of information on greenhouse gases in accordance with the requirements of the MRV system.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance sets a national commitment to reduce the consequences of climate change within the framework of the Paris Agreement every 5 years, starting in 2025.

Within the framework of this system, information on greenhouse gases will be uploaded on the Green Economy online platform established by the ministry within specific periods.

Meanwhile, Uzbekhydroenergo (Uzbekistan's energy company) adopted the hydropower development program until 2030.

Within the framework of the program, more than 50 major investment projects have been implemented, and it is planned to increase the capacity of hydropower plants (HPP) up to 6 GW by 2030 through the construction of new HPPs and the modernization of all existing ones.
