Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr D. Khatinoghlu / Iranian authorities brought new accusations against the arrested leader of the National Movement of South Azerbaijan (Iranian province), Abbas Lisani.
Lisani was arrested in 2005 during the rally-march to Babek's Fortress. He was charged with anti-governmental propaganda and violation of national security and sentenced to 30 months of imprisonment.
New accusations were brought against Lisani, his wife, Rughaya Lisani, said to Trend by phone from Ardabil, Iran on 24 September. Lisani has already served 15 months of his imprisonment term.
The police officers, who were injured during the action held in Ardabil on 29 May 2006, submitted a complaint. Lisani was accused of organization of the action and fined $3,200.
On 22 September, Lisani was summoned to Revolutionary Court 113 in Tabriz due to repeated accusation of violation of national security, Ms Lisani said.
Lisani has been kept in Ardabil Prison for 15 months.
According to unofficial reports, 35mln of native Azerbaijanis reside in Iran.
