Berlin talks decide to move a third UN resolution on Iran

( dpa ) - Britain, France and Germany are to put forward a text to the UN Security Council in New York for a third resolution on Iran's nuclear programme, it was agreed in Berlin Tuesday.

The move was agreed by foreign ministers of the five permanent members ofthe UN Security Council plus Germany. Details were not released, and further discussions were being held into Tuesday night.

It was widely expected the third resolution would contain stringent sanctions.

Germany's Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who called the meeting at short notice, had already predicted agreement and said he was particularly pleased that his Russian and Chinese counterparts were attending. dpa fm rpm sc
