Law on political parties should be amended: Iranian minister

The countries that are developing in all spheres should implement new reforms, Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar was quoted by the Iribnews. "Iran's law "On parties" also must be reviewed and amended," he added.

The Iranian parliament approved this law 27 years ago. So far, the country has not amended the law.  The law "On parties" has several shortcuts, which makes it necessary to revise its provisions, he added.

According to experts and professionals the law should be reformed and then approved by the parliament, he added.

The country must create conditions for the establishment and activities of the strong parties, he said.

The Interior Ministry's Registration Commission registered 200 political parties in 1982-2005, Deputy Interior Minister Sulat Murtazavi said. The country has registered 50 political parties during Ahmadinejad's presidency, he said.
