The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran came to a categorical decision to refuse importing TU-154 passenger planes, said the chairman of the Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) of Iran Reza Nakhchivani, İSNA agency reported.

The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran came to a categorical decision to refuse importing TU-154 passenger planes, said the chairman of the Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) of Iran Reza Nakhchivani, İSNA agency reported.

If any violation of the safety rules by the pilots is proved, then the organization will not be able to apply punishment with regards to them since they are employees of the Federal Aviation Service (FAS) of Russia.

Yesterday a TU-154 plane crashed during landing in the city of Mashhad. 46 people injured as a result of the accident. The aircraft, owned by Taban Air, had 157 passengers and thirteen crew members on board.

On 15 July last year, a TU-154 plane belonging to Caspian Airlines crashed about 20 kilometers from the city of Qazvin. The crash killed all 168 passengers of the Tehran-Yerevan flight.
