Ahmadinejad to attend UN next meeting

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said during his weekly press conference that there is the possibility of a meeting between presidents of Iran and United States on the sidelines of next UN General headquarters in New York on September, ILNA reported.

"The Iranian President will be present in the UN General Assembly meeting and will put forward his views based on a defined program," Mehmanparast told reporters.

Referring to the issue of appointing special envoys by President Ahmadinejad for the affairs of different parts of the world, the spokesman said it was a "positive" move which is also common in other countries.

The President has recently appointed special representatives to deal with the affairs of the Middle East, Asia, Caspian Sea and Afghanistan regions.

"The move indicates the maximum significance given by President Ahmadinejad to major developments in the field of foreign policy," Mehmanparast added.

Moreover, Mehmanparast voiced Tehran's readiness to build new nuclear power plants with the help of other countries.
