Iran's Parliament Speaker: US rights review test for UNHRC
Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani says the UN Human Rights Council's (UNHRC) Friday meeting where it reviewed the US rights record was a 'test of credibility' for the council, ISNA reported.
Larijani praised the UNHRC for reviewing Washington's human rights dossier, describing the move as "very meaningful".
The top parliamentarian said so many articles and books have been published on human rights violations in the United States that the UNHRC has more than enough data to review Washington's rights record.
UNHRC began to examine the situation with human rights in the United States on Friday. This work is conducted within a new procedure of a universal periodic review.
