Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has urged the West to lift sanctions against the country, insisting that the Iranian nation will defend its rights to the end, Press TV reported.

"They (Western countries) have announced that they recognize the rights of the Iranian nation... It will be beneficial to the West to lift sanctions and cooperate (with Iran)," said President Ahmadinejad in the central province of Markazi on Tuesday.

"I presume that the West has noticed what is happening in Iran and that the Iranian nation will never give up on its rights, not even an iota," he noted.

He said Western countries raised a hue and cry and tried to create obstacles in the path of progress the Iranian nation is on, emphasizing that the Iranians are determined to defend their rights.

The Iranian chief executive stressed that the West resorts to an "arms race" in an attempt to boost its power.

"They (Western countries) are making efforts to produce bombs, missiles and new chemical and biological weapons."

President Ahmadinejad pointed out that although enemies possess destructive weapons and atomic submarines, they sustain repeated failures against the Iranian nation.

He noted that all their weapons and arms would have no effect on a nation which does not fear the enemy.
