From next week, a special police service controlling the virtual space will operate in Iran, MEHR news agency quoted Commander of the Police Forces of Iran, Esmail Ahmadi Moghaddam, as saying.
According to Moghaddam, internet police will start operating in Tehran and later in all big cities.
"Control over the virtual space and 'virtual police' is a new sphere, requiring special attention," Moghaddam said.
He added that the state had already allocated funds for the project. "We started to work and created a secretariat for the establishment of 'virtual police', whose charter has already been approved," Moghaddam said.
