Iran Materials 9 February 2011 10:02 (UTC +04:00)

Tehran's ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Danaifar has said Iran and Iraq will increase the number of flights between the two countries.

The decision was made following a visit by the head of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization to Baghdad, Danaifar told the Mehr News Agency.

The ambassador expressed hope that the two countries can have one or two flights every day.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to his meeting with Russia's ambassador to Baghdad on Sunday, saying they exchanged views about Iraq and discussed problems facing the regional countries.

He said they also discussed cooperation between Iran and Russia in doing some joint projects in Iraq. Danaifar said the two sides made some initial agreements in this regard.

According to the agreements, Iranian and Russia companies based in Iraq will be introduced to each other in the future to develop cooperation, he noted.

He also pointed to his two meetings with the Iraqi foreign minister this week, saying they discussed border issues as well as ways to expand bilateral ties.
