General: Iranian army to repel possible enemy aggression

Islamic Iran will turn into a hell for its enemies, Brigadier General Farzad Esmail said on Friday, IRNA reported.

"If enemies do a foolish act, thinking aggression on holy borders of our dear country, Islamic Iran will turn into a hell for them on the ground, space and sea," said Gen. Esmail, Commander of the Khatam-ul-Anbia Air Defense Headquarters.

General Esmaili, speaking as a pre-sermon lecturer in the congregational Friday prayers in Tehran University campus, said enemies should know that Iranian armed forces will confront them within shortest possible time if they think of harming the Islamic Republic establishment.

He called on Iranian forces to remain vigilant and alert.

Two days earlier, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Iran's ambitions to build long-range ballistic missiles and its "military nuclear program" may convince some unnamed countries to launch a preemptive attack against Iran's military and nuclear sites, Xinhua quoted the report as saying.

Hassan Tajik, managing director of West Europe Division of Iranian Foreign Ministry on Thursday described French President Nicolas Sarkozy's remarks on Iran's nuclear program as "unreal claims" and "should be avoided," the state IRIB TV reported.

"Making such remarks should be avoided" and the realities should be considered, Tajik said.
