The Iranian police forces have shot six drug smugglers on the Iranian-Pakistani border, Mehr News Agency quoted Deputy Commander of the Iranian Border Police Ahmad Geravand as saying on Monday.
During the exchange of fire, a policeman and a smuggler were injured while several criminals could escape, Geravand said.
He noted that the police forces seized 120 kilograms of crack, 10 kg of opium, two Kalashnikovs and other arms.
The smugglers were backed from the Pakistani side during the exchange of fire, Geravand added.
"Pakistan does not monitor the flow of the smugglers into the Iranian territory and Iranian authorities called on Pakistan to enforce control over the border," he said.
