FM spokesman expresses surprise at Saudi FM's statement

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast described on Sunday the Saudi foreign minister's recent remarks in Persian Gulf Cooperation Council as 'strange', IRNA reported.

He told reporters, 'We expect Saudi authorities to stop accusing others and revise their approaches and policies on Iran and other regional countries.'

Mehmanparast expressed displeasure with the Saudi FM's baseless charges against Iran as an act of interfering in some regional countries' domestic affairs, and called on him to be responsive to his own people's legitimate demands and stop dividing regional nations for own interests.

Underlining the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities, he said, 'We have always been stressed the need for all countries to contribute to disarmament efforts worldwide," he said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said West claims about Iran's peaceful nuclear program is a blame game aimed at diverting world public opinion from their own nuclear arsenals which are the real threats to the security of the world.
