Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov.28 / Trend F.Milad/

"Sanctions on the Central Bank of Iran are all unprincipled and unlawful, because central banks act independently of the government and belong to the nation," the central bank governor Mahmoud Bahmani said.

Each country which imposes sanctions on another country's central bank has, in fact, taken an unlawful action, he added, the IRNA news agency reported.

Referring to the recent sanctions by Britain on Iran's central bank, Mr Bahmani said that Iran has cut its banking ties with Britain for a long time. Meanwhile, the country has not any banking relations with Canada and the U.S.

The United States, Britain and Canada announced new measures against Iran's energy and financial sectors on November 21, and France proposed new sanctions, including the freezing of the Central Bank of Iran's assets and suspending the purchase of Iranian oil.
