Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the Iranian engineers and pilgrims who were abducted in separate incidents in Syria are good condition, IRNA reported.
Salehi made the remark to reporters after a cabinet meeting in Tehran late Sunday.
The foreign minister noted that before the abduction of seven Iranian engineers they had been briefed on how to take precautions and take necessary safety measures in order to avoid being kidnapped by armed gangs in Syria.
However, he noted that the engineers had announced that they want to help make the power plant of the Syrian city of Homs operational.
Referring to the fact that the Syrian officials have promised to secure the release of Iranian engineers and pilgrims, Salehi expressed hope that the Iranian nationals will be released soon.
"Some foreign media by showing the end of military serve cards of the abducted people claimed that those cards showed their military affiliations," he added.
