The managing director of one the world's biggest producers of ethylene said that his company is marketing its petrochemical products to India and Pakistan in an effort to widen its customer base, Mehr news agency reported.
Annually, the Marun Petrochemical Company sells between 600 to 800 tons of petrochemicals to customers around the world, managing director Seyyed Rahim Sharif Mousavi said.
About 1.1 million tons of ethylene produced by Marun make it one of the biggest producers of the petrochemical in the world. In total, the company produces 1.6 million tons of ethylene, ethylene glycol, polypropylene and high density polyethylene annually.
Although China is Marun's biggest customer now, the producer is looking for new buyers to diversify its market.
Turkey has increased its petrochemical imports from Iran. The transportation of the products via land is much easier than dealing with shipping details, Mr. Mousavi said.
