An average of 95 million cubic meters of gas has been injected into Iran's oil fields in the first nine months of the year, Shana news agency reports.

Extending the life of oil fields by injecting gas into them is one of the projects that the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) implements, Amir Masood Jabari, Director of the Coordination and Production Monitoring Department for the NIOC, said.

Injecting gas into an oil field prevents the pressure of the reserve's oil from dropping, stabilizing production over long-term.

By starting to inject 50 million cubic meters of gas per day into the Aghajari oil field by late year (Iran's solar year ends on March 20), performance in the injection sector is forecasted to be much better.
