Iranian reformist leader under house-arrest visits family

The Iranian former Parliamentary Speaker and reformist leader Mehdi Karroubi who was placed under house-arrest14 months ago recemtly visited his family, the reformist's website www.kaleme.org reported on Wednesday. Karroubi's last visit to his family was four months ago.

According to Kaleme, Karrubi told his family he will continue "his way in companionship with Iranian people".

Reformist leader called Iran's recent parliamentary election 'ordered and false'. The elections were held on March 2. According to the Iranian media, 65 per cent of eligible voters participated and the second round of elections will be held in more than 30 districts, including in Tehran.

Karrubi, who was the presidential nominate in 2009, protested at the election results, charging Ahmadinejad's government of falsification.

The two reformist leaders Mehdi Karroubi and Mir-Hossein Mousavi were then placed under house-arrest 14 months ago.
