Azerbaijan, Baku, April 9 /Trend M. Moezzi/

The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) will lodge a complaint with the European Union against a German oil company for failing to carry out its contractual obligations, Mehr news agency reported.

Before the new round of international sanctions against Iran's oil industry, the German company signed a contract with NIORDC to sell, install and start up some complex equipment like turbo compressors at the Imam Khomeini Shazand oil refinery.

The company hasn't performed any of the work it agreed to in its contract and hasn't sent its specialists for the send development phase of the Shazand refinery.

The Shazand project isn't the only one abandoned by foreign companies because of new sanctions against Iran.

At the Abadan refinery, foreign oil and gas companies with contracts for the refinery's third phase include France's Axens, the British subsidiary of UOP and the British/Dutch Shell. None of them have followed through with their contracts.

Iranian specialists will do the work on both projects.
