UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan, who arrived to Tehran yesterday, will today meet with country's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Hormuzgan province of Iran, IRINN reported.

Annan arrived in Iran yesterday to hold talks on the Syrian issue with Iranian leaders. At a joint press conference this morning with Annan and Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, it was noted that Iran has been supportive of Annan's plans to resolve the Syrian crisis.

During the conference, Annan thanked Iran for support, and underscored that any further militarization in Syria will be disastrous.

Ali Akbar Salehi in his turn underscored that Iran will continue its support for Annan's plan, noting that it is important for Syrian people to support it as well, and not to allow any military intervention from the outside.

Syrian troops killed 31 people on Tuesday despite efforts by international mediator Kofi Annan to ensure the government and opposition implement a ceasefire this week.
