Iran aims to have $70 billion (USD) in non-petroleum exports this year, a goal that, if achieved, would mark the first time the country's exports outstrip imports.
Last year (Iran's solar year ended on March 19), Iran exported more than $48.5 billion in non-petroleum products, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports.
First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Rahimi, discussed his country's goals and achievements on a visit to Lebanon. Mr. Rahimi counted Iran's subsidy reform plan and the creation of 1.6 million jobs last year as examples of what the government has achieved despite international sanctions against Iran's oil industry and its central bank.
The vice president said his visit signalled Iran's readiness to help Lebanon and its serious support for Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and his government.
Iran's education, roads and urban affairs, communications and energy ministers accompanied Mr. Rahimi on his trip.
