The FZ-A platform related to Iran's Forouzan oilfield, located in the Persian Gulf, started to be installed on Friday, the Shana News Agency reported.

The installation operations will be completed by the next 22 days, according to the report.

Once the new platform puts into operation, the oilfield's daily output will be increased by 60,000 barrels to reach 100,000 barrels. The field's gas output is currently about 258 million cubic feet per day.

The main goal of the Forouzan oil field development project is to extract more than 300 million barrels of crude oil in the next 25 years.

The Forouzan oilfield is estimated to hold some 2.3 billion barrels of in-place reserves of crude. The field is known as Marjan in Saudi Arabia.

Iran shares oil and gas fields with most of its neighbors in the Persian Gulf region as well as with Turkmenistan in the Caspian Sea.
