Spokesman of Iran's Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast said Iran is ready to hold talks with the UK regarding the normalization of relations between the two countries, PRESS TV reported live.

Speaking at the press-conference in Tehran, Mehmanparast spoke about the recent meeting of Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi with his British counterpart William Hague. Salehi and Hague met as they both attended a security conference in Afghanistan

"There are a lot of Iranian citizens living in the UK, so it is important to keep connections," Mehmanparast said.

He noted that the ministers of two countries discussed a lot of issues, including regional problems, Syria unrests, issues of mutual interests. Mehmanparast underscored that there are "no negative points" regarding the Iran-UK talks.

In November 2011, amid increasing tensions between London and Tehran, Iranians stormed the British Embassy compound, destroyed property and briefly detained six embassy staff members.

In response, Britain evacuated its diplomatic personnel, closed its embassy in Iran and expelled Iranian diplomats.

Before the embassy attack, Iran's Majlis voted to reduce diplomatic relations with Britain in response to sanctions levied against Tehran.
