After the Central Bank of Iran and the Statistical Centre of Iran's disagreement over who is responsible for announcing the country's inflation rate, it appears the Central Bank will issue the figure.

Article 54 of Iran's Fifth Five Year Socio Economic Development Plan (2011-215) says the Statistical Centre of Iran is the official source for announcing the inflation rate. However the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reports that the Centre's High Council decided that until the base year and the basket of goods used to calculate the inflation rate aren't the same for both authorities, the Central Bank will announce the figure.

The Statistical Centre had been erratic in issuing the inflation rate and in the winter of 2011, the Central Bank began to announce the rate and post it on its website.

It is reported that while the Central Bank issues the official inflation rate, the Statistical Centre calculates the rate and informs the heads of the three branches of government, the cabinet, members of the Majlis (parliament) and governors.
