Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri, deputy joint chief of staff of Iran's Armed Forces said the 'veto right' of the five permanent countries in United Nations Security Council should be reviewed by Non-Aligned Movement members' volition, Mehr reported on Aug.27.

"The permanent peace in the world is NAM's essential mission and achieving this goal requires the increase of the organisation's influence in the United Nations," he said.

NAM, an international organization comprising120 member states, is considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc.

The 16th summit of the NAM member states kicked off in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Sunday.

According to Iran officials' statements, 120 countries' representatives including 50 high level officials such as presidents, prime ministers and vice-presidents will participate at the NAM summit.

Iranian officials have repeatedly said that holding the NAM summit in Iran, especially handing over the periodic presidency from Egypt to Iran, shows the Western pressure on Iran and their failure to isolate it from the international community.

Jazayeri said that 16th summit of NAM is a great opportunity to make fundamental changes in forming the NAM members' approach and policy towards international happens to fight with the U.S. and Israel.
