Detained daughter of Iran's former president Ali Hashemi Rafsanjani, Faezeh Hashemi has been allowed to meet with her family, Fars reported.

Faezeh Hashemi met with her mother Effat Marashi and sister Fatima Hashemi in the Evin prison in Iran.

Faezeh Hashemi was sentenced to prison because she had participated in "illegal" riots protesting Iran's disputed presidential elections in 2009.

Faezeh and four other unidentified family members of Rafsanjani were arrested after they "allegedly" took part in "unauthorized protest rallies" in central Tehran, Press TV reported on 21 June 2009.

After a day, all of them were released, but Tehran Revelatory Court sentenced Faezeh to 6 months in prison last year. She is banned from political activities for five years.

Meanwhile, the son of Ali Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mehdi Hashemi is in the prosecutor's office, answering investigators' questions.

The prosecutor did not allow Hashemi's lawyer to be present during the interrogation, because thus far it is unclear whether Hashemi will be arrested.

The son of former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mehdi Hashemi yesterday arrived in Imam Khomeini airport in Tehran, Fars reported.

Prior to arrival, Hashemi has been living in the United Kingdom.

Upon arrival via the Duba-Tehran flight, Hashemi was met local officials, and summoned to the Government Employees Prosecutor's office.
